What do you do when you get caught breaking the law?

If you're Wal-Mart, you send an army of lobbyists to Washington DC to try to change the law.

Last week Wal-Mart got caught in clear violation of the federal law that prohibits American companies from bribing officials in foreign countries.  This isn't some new law.  It's been on the books for several decades.

Wal-Mart wasn't even subtle.  It used hundreds of thousands of dollars to bribe Mexican officials to approve new Wal-Mart stores in Mexico (Those workers who make everything in Wal-Mart need someplace to buy stuff, don't they?)  And then they tried to hide it.

But Wal-Mart wasn't waiting around to get caught.  Instead, it sent an army of lobbiest to Washington to try to change the law before they got caught. 

Remember when Sam Walton ran those ads about how Wal-Mart worked with American workers to put American made products in Wal-Mart stores?  Remember when Sam Walton was considered an icon of an ethical entrepreneur?

Sorta gives new meaning to the phrase:  "Wal-Mart -- always the lowest"

Spring Day -- And a Beautiful Girl Who Happens To Be My Daughter

Spent a beautiful spring day -- the first day of April -- with my youngest daughter taking photos.   The dress is for a military dinner.  Because she is in the National Guard & ROTC, she must wear a military uniform -- unless she goes as someone's date.  Several soldiers broke the unwritten rule and volunteered. So she'll be wearing the dress.
