Attacking those who built this nation

I just saw a post on Facebook by Barbara Hansen Barrick deriding the union employees standing up against Indiana's effort to pass "right to work"  legislation.  Unfortunately it is becoming an all-too-common approach among the GOP and those carrying the mantra of the Tea Party.  It is close to a vendetta --  attacking not only unions, but personally attacking workers -- all in the name of Wall Street profits.

I'm certainly willing to engage in civil debate with anyone on this topic, but this woman attacked union members -- workers who built America -- in such derisive terms that it requires a response. Here is my not-too-tactful response:

Note to Barbara Hansen Barrick: My dad was one of those "lower educated, lower middle class, blue collar" folks you demeaned -- the kind of folks that built cars, made steel, produced your electricity, operated the trucks & trains that brought food, televisions and refrigerators to your house. Along with my mother, who had an 8th grade education, they raised 7 children, all of whom received high school diplomas, and 3 of whom went on to receive advanced college degrees: a pastor, a teacher and a lawyer.

They were as smart and knowledgeable about issues of the day as any of their white collar bosses.

So, on behalf of my mother and father, my aunts & uncles (including those who served - and died - in WWII), you can take your comments, and shove them up your highly educated, upper class, white collar ass.
